This music book has been compiled for two specific reasons. Firstly, as its
name implies, it is a collection of tunes which the composer wrote and played to
celebrate special occasions of his family and friends over the years and he
hopes that everyone who purchases a copy will gain considerable pleasure from
playing them. To make it appealing to learners and experienced pipers alike, he
has included a selection of exercises plus some of his own arrangements of
simple popular songs, etc.
The second and more important reason is to raise much needed funds for a
small care home for young adults who suffer really profound learning
disabilities. As there have been NO COSTS charged in producing this
edition, ALL money raised from the sale of the book will be donated to the amenity
fund of the home (which allows them to have the little extras that are not
provided for by the authorities).
The composer does not claim to be a champion piper but is experienced
nonetheless. He is very proud to have served as a piper in both the 1st and 2nd
Battalions of the Scots Guards under four of the foremost pipe majors of their
time, namely the late K. G. Roe, his brother J. S. Roe, R. Crabb (now a proud
Chelsea Pensioner) and R. L. Kilgour.
"He
is also very proud to have played at
a State Banquet in Buckingham
Palace."
